Meeting July 22, 2009 Phone

July 22 - The Natural Resources Board Special Advisory Committee for Hunter and Landowner Support of Effective Alternative Deer Population Control Methods may hold a short conference call at 7 PM CST Jul 22, 2009 to continue discussions of the alternative packages and incentives being developed. The committee will also discuss results from an online survey conducted of their organizations' membership views. Participation during the phone meeting will only be available to Committee members and proxy members. Public parties interested in listening during the call should visit and click the "Committee Worksite" link to view instructions on the "Meeting 07-22-09 Phone" page at www.wiherdcontrol.org

The Committee plans on having a phone conference at 7 PM CST on July 22nd to continue discussions of the alternative packages and incentives being developed. The Committee may also elect to include discussions of online survey results from their memberships on preliminary concepts being considered. This advance survey was developed to allow Committee members at their option to gather input from their organizations to verify the direction of proposals and options being considered by the Committee.

The Committee's approach has been to develop and consider 'packages' that include both a season structure along with specific incentives for hunters, land owners, and public land managers to address and/or prevent deer herd over population conditions. The season structures being discussed encompass various versions of a main season, archery season(s), muzzle loader season(s), youth hunt, December season, and holiday seasons. The incentives being discussed are intended to encourage participation in efforts to reduce and/or prevent over population conditions by encouraging hunter, landowner, and public land manager involvement.

The next step is to further discuss alternatives and develop an online public survey to gather additional input prior to finalizing recommendations on August 1, 2009. This online survey can be accessed starting at noon Saturday July 25, 2009 via the link below. The public is also welcome to pre-register to receive an email when this becomes available by submitting their email address at this link.

The Committee's final meeting will be August 1, 2009 at Stevens Point Wisconsin. More information will posted at August 1 Meeting for those interested.
